Hi there, Could do with some help. I saw another thread in this forum with the same issue but it was closed to post so I created this one. Just purchased a webcam to use on my pc with windows XP. Plugged it in and didn't go through the PnP wizard and is pretty much not seen. Device manager sees it as 'USB Composite Device' and the driver is 5.1.2600.0 and is dated 2001. Windows update doesn't find anything newer but the camera isn't working right and there must be a newer driver somewhere I just can't find it.

As Frank posted, it probably doesn't work in XP. You need to search on eBay for cameras that specify they work in XP if that is the intended use. Also, there is no such thing as a 'generic' webcam driver because they all use different chipsets. Without a Vendor, no one can guess the chipset and point you to a vendor's site with drivers on it.
